July 2025
Wednesday 2nd July saw a successful Open Day for the store, where members, and others, were able to see around the site and the recently constructed building that houses the offices, laboratory, workshop, and on top - the Solar PV system! They had their moisture meters and temperature probes tested, could chat with Mike, other staff, and Directors; and enjoyed a pasty and a piece of cake.
Thursday 10th July saw the start of Harvest 2025, with the first intake of grain to the store. It has been a very hot and dry start to harvest; lets hope, for our farmers, that it continues that way.
April 2025
The store is delighted to welcome their new Manager, Mike Champion, to Kernow Grain Ltd. The management of the store has undergone transition, and staffing is no longer being supplied by partner store Cannington Grain in Somerset; however, the stores maintain a close working relationship, and Kernow Grain continues to benefit from the expertise, assistance, and support of John Collins and his team.
January 2025
Following the Company's 28th AGM on Wednesday 15th January, the Chairman, James Hosking, arranged a champagne toast for Ian Biffen to mark his retirement.
Ian has been the Company Secretary for as long as Kernow Grain Ltd has been in existence. He was involved from the very outset, helping with the search to find a suitable plot of land for the Store to be built on, nearly 30 years ago. Ian saw the plans come to fruition, and continued with this role for the Company, working alongside his other businesses, whilst always showing dedication and diligence, and enabling Kernow Grain to grow. It is said that despite guiding the Company through both good, but also some challenging, times over the years, Ian never showed up without a smile on his face, and never complained about anything that was asked of him!
The Board of Directors, and Members, all wish Ian a very Happy Retirement.
The role of Company Secretary is now held by Sarah Bunkum, who has been working alongside Ian and learning the ropes, for more than 12 months.

During this past year at Kernow Grain Store we have seen a few changes within the store which we would like to highlight to our members. As most of you are aware by now the store has undergone a management transition with John Collins now taking over as the Store Manager. John brings with him his team and experience in managing Kernow’s partner store Cannington Grain within Somerset.
Also with the introduction and success of last year's open day where members and prospective members can learn more about the site, services offered and have first-hand contact with trade suppliers, Kernow will again be running another day prior to harvest, to be announced.
